POSITION: Facility Security Officer

Based in Wilsonville, Oregon (a suburb of Portland), United States and founded in 1978, the company makes thermal cameras and components for a wide variety of commercial and government applications


Location: This role can be based at one of several FLIR US facilities including Portland, OR, Billerica, MA, Arlington, VA, or Elkridge, MD.

Travel: Expected travel is 50% to allow for regular visits to FLIR facilities and to customer locations.

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a Facility Security Officer (FSO) to manage site security planning in accordance with the US Government. The FSO will manage FLIR’s security program including physical security, visitor control, security clearance processing, classification management, asset protection and control. The FSO will work closely with our Business Development and sales teams to ensure that contracts and sales agreements meet security requirements.

Job Description:

Influence development of solutions that impact strategic projects and business results.

Recommend and implement innovative solutions, processes, policies, standards in support of National Industrial Security Program (NISP).

Provide measurable input to FLIR processes or standards to achieve security objectives.

Communicate with executive leadership regarding matters of importance to the security organization or programs.

Serve as the NISP subject matter expert for Facility Clearances.

Uses expert knowledge of industry practices, advanced techniques and solutions within the security professional discipline to develop standards, processes, and solutions.


Certified FSO (Completed curriculum and have certification for FSO of a possessing facility.)

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. 5-10 years’ experience as an FSO or in a related role within a mid to large sized corporation with multiple locations.

Prior security experience within a manufacturing organization is a plus.

Active Secret clearance on day 1 of employment.

Experience in conducting Security Investigations/Administrative Inquiries and interviewing employees for security infractions.

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills and be able to interface with all levels of management as well as interacting with various government customers.

US Citizenship.

Ability to travel 50%.
