SUMMARY: In support of Adventist Health’s Mission “To share God’s love by providing physical, mental and spiritual healing” the Jones Lang LaSalle Facility Security Manager will be directly responsible for the oversight of the daily operations of Security, including the main hospital, the offsite clinics, the medical office buildings and all other hospital owned locations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Directly supports the Sr. Facilities Director with security functions and related administrative and operational tasks.
Performs direct management and supervision of all lead security officers and security officers.
Oversight of created, implemented and standardized security program processes, systems and procedures.
Ensures for a smooth day-to-day outcome of security administrative and department operations.
Responsible for the creation, implementation, compliance and updates of all security program policies and procedures.
Carries out established security initiatives to provide protection and protective measures for the hospital buildings, clinics, MOB’s and premises, associates, patients, and visitors.
In conjunction with the Sr. Facilities Director, assists with law enforcement and correctional liaison for the facility.
Has the primary responsibility to ensure that work schedules are completed resolving time-off and vacation issues in accordance with established staffing policies.
Responsible for new employee position selection, hiring, performance evaluation and the dismissal of security personnel. Ensures that security staff are in compliance with all appropriate and mandated licenses. Assists in dealing with issues of maintaining discipline in accordance with policies.
Assists the Sr. Facilities Director by ensuring that staffing labor spend remains within targeted budget and directly oversees a minimal use of overtime.
Assists in preparing and managing the annual security operating budget.
Responsible to conduct complex internal hospital investigations. Investigations may relate to internal theft, personnel matters, assaults, missing property, associate injuries, workers’ compensation, workplace violence, sexual harassment and excessive uses of force on patients.
Responsible for training and instruction to lead security officers and officers on report writing and conducting initial incident investigations.
Assists by creating, developing and hosting healthcare security related training and instruction for all security personnel.
Gathers and maintains documents and assists with conducting analysis of security incident data for the facility. May prepare security data statistical reports and make presentations as assigned.
Performs the training and orientating of new security personnel. Assists with planning, directing and providing instruction for the facility onboarding process. Assists with ensuring that all new hires have a security program orientation that is appropriately documented as required by TJC.
Responsible to maintain training records for all security officers and ensures that all security officers are current and compliant with mandated competencies.
Provides training and expert advice to hospital associates and leadership on a variety of healthcare security, law enforcement and personal safety issues.
Assists in preparing and updating the hospital’s Environment of Care Management Plans on an annual basis or as needed as required by TJC.
Has direct operational oversight for the enforcement actions by security officers of the hospital’s parking management program for all sites.
Conducts annual security risk assessments for the hospital. Ensures that an annual evaluation and continued assessment is conducted on the security risks and vulnerabilities of the hospital. Provides guidance and recommendations to reduce the identified security risks and provides updated and current information to senior leadership relating to new security risks.
With the regional Security Director, in collaboration with the Regional Facilities Director and site Facility Director, work closely with the various Risk Managers, Clinical and Non-Clinical Director leadership in dealing with issues involving identified security, patient and safety risks.
Will be required to participate as a member of a hospital Environment of Care (EOC) committee, providing information, updates and dealing with issues relating to the Security Management Plan.
May participate in EOC rounding, as a member of EOC rounding teams, conducts inspections, surveys or site reviews of designated departments in the hospital and clinic sites.
Performs the first line security management review of all completed security incident reports submitted by security staff. Ensures that incidents reports are properly classified, detailed, concise and accurate. Follows up on reported incidents through investigations and notifications to hospital directors, risk management and other leadership.
Assists in ensuring that region security program records, reports and files are maintained and kept current, following records retention policies.
Ensures that fire extinguisher checks are completed and documented as required by TJC
Ensures that fire drills are conducted and documented as required by TJC
Will assist the hospital Safety Officer with security related functions should a given emergency warrant a response
Will perform other security related functions as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
College degree in related discipline or equivalent education and experience.
Minimum 3 years of security management experience, including supervision of security staff at a large site or multiple locations. Healthcare security experience, strongly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Excellent interpersonal skills and customer relationship management skills.
A functional understanding of the criminal justice system and criminal penal code laws.
A functional understanding on the legalities of the uses of force, legal arrest procedures and general civil liability.
Obtain the IAHSS supervisory certification within one year of employment.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated investigative and report writing skills.
Ability to teach, report writing and investigation skills.
Knowledge of integrated security systems such as CCTV, communication and notification, access control, and various incident and visitor management.
HOURS | TRAVEL
This position will require working 5 front line shifts.
Willing to work long and odd hours.
Schedule will vary in days and time.
Must be able to travel, if required.
